LET’S GET REAL. HOW MUCH DOES THIS COST?
I charge a $50 fee for a single-client consult lasting up to one hour. For multiple clients, I charge $100 per hour. This includes a gift bag and an eyewear “spa treatment” for your existing glasses. If you purchase any eyewear, this fee will be deducted from your charges. My frame-and-lens packages start at $300. All of my fees are listed on this website, so there are no surprises at check-out time.
WHAT KIND OF FRAMES DO YOU SELL?
I have curated a selection of frames from some of the industry’s best manufacturers, including DeRigo REM, L’Amy America, Safilo USA, OGI, Studio Optyx, and others. Some of my top brands include Nike, Nicole Miller, Calvin Klein, John Varvatos, Polaroid, OGI, and the all-new Seven-Five Eyewear, an all-American-made brand. My collection includes brands and styles you won’t find in your everyday mall store or eye doctor’s shop, and I am an area-exclusive supplier for OGI, Seven-Five, and the all-new Tocco rimless line. While I try to have a little something for everyone, my collection is definitely more fashion-forward than most. My philosophy is that if you have to wear glasses, they should make a statement and make you smile. Your eyewear should make people jealous of your prescription!

WHAT KIND OF LENSES DO YOU DISPENSE?
Years of working with lenses have led me to the selection I use, a mix of modern technologies and classic designs to suit every need. I use progressive multifocals from Unity and Varilux, photochromic lenses from SunSync and Transitions, anti-reflective coatings from Synergy, TechShield, and Crizal, polarized sunglasses with backside anti-glare, and materials including polycarbonate, hyper-high-index, and trivex. I can even go old-school and get you lined bifocals if the application is appropriate.
I will never sell you a lens style or upgrade that I don’t think you need or want. Your trust and repeat business are far more valuable to me than a one-time upsell.
CAN I SPECIAL ORDER A FRAME?
I am happy to special order a frame from any manufacturer with whom I have an existing account. There is a $30 charge for this service to cover shipping and handling costs.

DO YOU CARRY RAY-BAN?
No. Ray-Ban frames are much more common than the collection I have curated. The goal at RVA Eye Guy is to be a little—or a lot—different. In addition, Ray-Ban frames are manufactured by Luxottica, which owns several retail eyewear brands, and I don’t want to directly pay my competition to undercut my prices.

DO YOU PROVIDE EYEGLASS PRESCRIPTIONS?
I am not an optometrist, so I cannot provide your prescription. Your regular eye doctor can provide that service. If you don’t have an eye doctor, or if your prescription is over a year old, I highly recommend my associate Dr. Lauren Smith with Visionary Optometry in Midlothian.
DO I NEED “BLUE-BLOCKING” LENSES?
Probably not, actually. Lenses that block the HEV blue spectrum of light are all the rage right now, but the fact of the matter is that the sun emits thousands of times more HEV blue light than any computer screen or mobile device ever will. “Blue-blocking” anti-reflective coatings have a yellowish cast to the lens that is cosmetically unappealing while serving little if any actual function. That said, some people do report feeling a bit of relief from these technologies, so I can provide them. I simply recommend skipping blue-blocking for your everyday glasses; save it for your computer pair.
CAN I GET CHEAPER LENSES WITHOUT THE POLYCARBONATE MATERIAL OR ANTI-REFLECTIVE COATING?
I do not sell plastic lenses, glass lenses, or any lenses without anti-reflective coating. I believe strongly that poly and AR are the bare minimum technologies necessary for the best possible vision and safety.

DO YOU TAKE INSURANCE OR FLEX SPENDING?
Not at this time.
